Sometimes, it can be difficult to picture how that sofa you love the comfort of can fit your style preferences and the style of the other pieces in your home. While some pieces are not as versatile as others, many, if not most, pieces can completely change look and feel based on what you pair it with!
To show how this can be done, we’ve taken one sofa and given it three different looks.
Look One: Colourful Condo
The inspiration for all the other pieces in this look started with the colourful toss cushions that are on the sofa. Along with the teal from the sofa, these cushions have orange and yellow in them. The wall art was the next item chosen as it features all these colours and more.
Tying in the colours of the toss cushions, we chose the area rug and vases on the coffee table. The area rug has hints of orange, and the vases are a soft yellow. We decided to use these colours for these pieces, rather than the teal, to have a nice contrast with the sofa.
The next pieces we chose were the coffee and end tables. We chose these because, like the sofa, they are considered condo size. The warm wood tone also ties in well with the oranges and yellows in this look. We tied in the silver hardware from these tables with some accessories, including the floor lamp.
Every other accessory chosen for this look is more neutral (but still fun), so that this colourful look doesn't become overwhelming.
Look Two: The Shapes of Modern
For this second look, we decided to go for a more modern look, with a minimal amount of colours, as well as geometric shapes and clean lines.
The first item we chose for this look was the set of 4 wall art. This set features black and white contrast, as well as clean lines and geometric shapes. You will see these shapes mirrored in other pieces as well, including the coffee and end tables.
We carried this black and white geometric theme throughout many of the pieces chosen, including the toss cushions, throw blanket and most of the accessories. Not only does this tie everything together, but it creates a fun and interesting modern look.
While we wanted to keep the colour to a minimum, we also wanted to tie in the teal from the sofa somewhere else in this look, which is why we chose vase you will see on the end table.
Look Three: Autumn Whimsy
This last look has a cozy farmhouse feel, while also feeling bright and whimsical. We started by choosing pieces with more of a cozy feel, including the area rug, patterned toss cushions and the ottoman.
We then started looking for wall art to pair with this look, and saw this autumn inspired piece that has lines mirrored in the patterned toss cushions. This wall art has hints of the teal from the sofa, as well as warm tones from the area rug and ottoman. It also has some peachy-pink tones in it, which inspired some of the other accessories in this look.
Inspired by this piece of art and the patterned toss cushions, we decided to pull in other elements from nature, including the plants.
We also added more whimsical elements with fun pieces like the heart table top accessory and the sheepskin throw.
Why All These Work
Are you wondering how all these different styles can work with this one sofa? There are a few ways we accomplished this:
Choosing toss cushions that tie into the style and colours we want
Mirroring colours and shapes in multiple pieces within the look
Embracing the teal colour of the sofa and not being afraid to pair it with other colours
Taking inspiration from a few pieces we loved for the rest of the items
