Sometimes, it can be difficult to picture how that sofa you love the comfort of can fit your style preferences and the style of the other pieces in your home. While some pieces are not as versatile as others, many, if not most, pieces can completely change look and feel based on what you pair it with!
To show how this can be done, we’ve taken one sofa and given it three different looks.
Look One: Industrial Pop
The first piece we chose to pair with the sofa was this industrial style rug that features orange and blue tones, as well as dark greys and off-whites. We then chose the two square toss cushions, which have the same style and colours as the rug.
Many of the other pieces chosen to go in this look feature the orange tones, including the kidney cushion, vases and rock salt lamp. Some other accessories we chose have warm camel or gold tones, which tie in well with the orange.
The next piece we chose was the art. Instead of choosing something with the orange tones, we decided to select a piece that had blue, gold and black in it. The light background of this piece also provided a nice contrast to the sofa, softening the look while still keeping the industrial feel.
To tie in the circles on the wall art, we chose circular shaped tables. You will also notice circular shapes in the floor lamp and some of the table top accessories.
Look Two: Fun Farmhouse
For this second look, we wanted to do something fun and unexpected, but still cohesive, choosing colours and textures that pair well with the sofa.
The inspiration for these pieces came from the toss cushions and art that we chose. The first toss cushions we chose were the pink ones. These add a touch of colour and femininity to the look. The kidney toss cushion we chose to mirror the the texture of the sheep in the wall art.
Both the artwork and the toss cushions lend to a farmhouse feel. That and the wood legs on the sofa inspired us to choose wooden tables for two of the three tables. On the side without the wood table, we added a tree to tie in that natural wood element.
The accessories that were chosen tie in the colours used in all the main pieces; pink, black and white.
Look Three: Modern Curves
For this last look, we decided to stay with the style of the sofa, modern. This meant sticking with a simple colour scheme, choosing items with clean lines, and picking pieces with abstract shapes.
After choosing the toss cushions and the wall art, we decided to choose items that featured curvy, yet simple, lines. This includes the coffee table, floor lamp, the two pieces of wall art on either side of the mirror and more of the accessories.
To add some more interest to the look, we decided to add in some gold elements, such as the wall mirror and some of the table top accessories.
While this look may not have many colours in it, with the lines and textures of the pieces, there is still a lot of interest and personality to it.
Why All These Work
