Peter Tielmann, the CEO of EQ3, pioneered the concept in 2001 soon after he moved to Canada. Having grown up in Europe with a background in business and design, Peter was inspired by the affordable ‘young living’ concepts popular in Europe, and recognized an opportunity in North America to offer modern, alternative choices for home furniture. Originally rooted in European design, EQ3 has evolved into a lifestyle concept shaped by a uniquely global design philosophy.
The EQ3 name and logo symbolizes our Canadian heritage and represents two important ideas. EQ represents “emotional quotient”, the measure of our emotional intelligence, reminding us of our responsibility to nurture and celebrate relationships. It measures our ability to perceive the emotions of others, to form appropriate emotional responses, and to nurture our emotional and intellectual growth. The 3 acknowledges the importance of community.
EQ3 products are designed in-house and by designers from around the world. As an international company, we are proud of our Canadian roots and our history of multiculturalism and global awareness. We nurture the celebration of individuality, nationality, race and the cultural rituals which shape the expression of home. We are all committed to the idea that together with others, we can shape the world we live in.
